Counselling Sunshine Coast: Meet Alana

Integrative therapy for emotional balance, clarity, and well-being

Hello, I’m Alana.

I’m a counsellor based on the Sunshine Coast, offering a calm, supportive space where you can pause, breathe, and reconnect with yourself.

For over a decade, I’ve been immersed in the world of health, wellness, and healing — holding space for others through yoga, Ayurveda, and retreat work, and now, in the deeply human work of counselling.

My approach is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and gentle awareness. I believe that healing begins within — and grows in the presence of understanding and safe connection. Each person carries an inner wisdom, even if it feels hidden or far away. My role is to walk beside you as you rediscover it, at your own pace, in a space where all parts of you are welcome.

Lana is a tertiary trained communicator and counsellor. She is also highly intuitive, deeply empathic and able to draw from a diverse range of life experiences. I’m very comfortable recommending her to any potential client.

My Path

This journey began in unexpected places — teaching English in Thailand, studying and teaching yoga, and guiding others through wellness retreats in Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and Hawaii. Over time, I felt drawn to deeper listening and more sustained therapeutic work — to sit with others not just in moments of stillness, but through the tender, often complex process of understanding ourselves, our patterns, and our ways of becoming.

What started as an interest in holistic health blossomed into a calling: to walk alongside others not only in times of ease, but also through the vulnerable terrain of healing. To be a companion in the quiet work of remembering — not who we should be, but who we already are beneath the noise.

I hold a Bachelor of Counselling from the University of the Sunshine Coast, alongside immersive studies in Ayurveda, yoga, and trauma-informed care. I’m also a Level 2 member of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA).

The Way I Work

My style is calm, grounded, and collaborative. You are invited to take off the armour, speak freely, and be met with presence and care.

Grace is central to my work. It is the gentle presence we offer ourselves — the patience and compassion that allow us to navigate life’s challenges without judgment. In therapy, grace becomes a holding space where curiosity, understanding, and empathy are prioritised. Here, you can explore emotions, patterns, behaviours, and strengths, understand relationships, consider next steps, or reconnect with your inner wisdom at your own pace.

Our sessions may include:

  • Exploring the inner parts of self through Internal Family Systems (IFS)

  • Reframing patterns and stories through narrative therapy

  • Mindful body and breath practices inspired by yoga and Ayurveda

  • Gentle support for cultivating a deeper connection with yourself

This space is tailored to you — safe, reflective, and guided by curiosity, compassion, and clarity.

Outside the Therapy Room

You’ll find me near the sea, surfing, walking the beach, practicing or teaching yoga, cooking slow meals, reading and writing, or curled up with my cat. These rituals ground me and help me show up for my work with presence and openheartedness.

A Space to Begin

You don’t need to have it all figured out — none of us do. If something inside you is seeking space or support, I would be honoured to walk alongside you, offering clarity and calm, compassionate guidance. My hope is that you feel truly seen, heard, and understood.

Though we can’t predict or control what will come up next or how we will feel about it, we can do something about how we react. We can work on how we relate to whatever comes up.
