Client Experiences

  • "

Alana has an amazing ability to help me shift my perspective and look at situations with positive energy. She always followed up after sessions with helpful, relevant resources. She went above and beyond to help me explore career options and potential education/work opportunities related to my degree. She was incredibly reassuring and validating as I navigated career paths. It was so inspiring to see the path she is paving. I really believe she is going to help a lot of people. Alana and I live in separate cities. I do think there is still value in face-to-face, but Alana’s great, and there was no awkwardness or disconnect. – Anonymous (for privacy)

Frequently Asked Questions

  • I work with youth and adults of all genders.

I support people who are new to therapy, who may have tried different approaches and long to feel emotionally understood, or who are seeking a less clinical, more holistic space to explore their inner world. I do not provide crisis support or acute mental health care.

I have a particular affinity for sensitive souls and deep thinkers. Those who feel deeply, process thoroughly, and sometimes carry more than their nervous system has capacity for. Many of the people I work with are navigating emotional overwhelm, past trauma, or the intensity of simply feeling so much.

Together, we gently build the capacity to experience the full range of emotions — without being drowned by them.

You may think deeply, feel strong empathy, and notice more than others — while also finding that this depth can feel exhausting or overwhelming at times. Perhaps you function well on the outside, even as things feel intense or challenging within.

  • It’s completely normal to feel unsure or a little anxious before a first therapy session — whether you’ve never been before, or you’re returning and hoping to find the right fit.

Our first session is a chance to gently explore what has brought you here and to see whether I’m the right person to support you. You don’t need to have the perfect words or a clear explanation of what you need — part of my role is to help you make sense of that. Some people come with something specific they’d like to work on, while others notice patterns or themes but aren’t quite sure where to begin. We can take our time and explore what feels most important.

This initial session is also an opportunity for you to get a feel for me and the space. The therapeutic relationship matters deeply, and it’s important that you feel comfortable and supported. If for any reason I’m not the right fit, I’m always happy to recommend a trusted colleague.

  • How many sessions you’ll need is unique to you. Some people come for a few sessions to work through something specific, while others prefer ongoing support over a longer period of time.

I offer sessions weekly, fortnightly, monthly, or on an as-needed basis. Together, we can decide on a rhythm that feels supportive and sustainable for you and we will identify your needs.

I also offer small group therapy experiences for those who are newer to therapy or who value connection and shared space alongside individual work.

There’s no fixed formula. what matters most is finding an approach that feels right for you and the season of life you are in.

  • No, you don’t need a referral from your GP to book a session with me.

As a counsellor, I’m not able to offer Medicare rebates under a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP). You’re welcome to book directly at any time.

If finances are a concern, please feel free to reach out — we can discuss available options together.

  • I’m an integrative therapist, which means I draw from a range of evidence-based approaches and tailor sessions to suit you. I work with Narrative Therapy, strengths-based approaches, and parts work (Internal Family Systems-informed), alongside nervous system-focused and body-aware practices.

With a background in yoga and Ayurveda, I gently integrate mindfulness and regulation tools where appropriate, supporting whole-person healing.

I’m trauma-informed and view symptoms and coping patterns not as flaws, but as intelligent adaptations shaped by life experience. Alongside my professional training, I bring lived experience of grief, complex trauma, and being a highly sensitive nervous system. This deepens my empathy and understanding, while our work remains centred on you and your needs.

My approach is relational, intuitive, and grounded in creating safety, trust, and genuine human connection.

  • I invite you to reach out by email or through the contact form. You’re also welcome to book a complimentary chat to explore whether we’re a good fit. I look forward to connecting with you.
