Counsellor Sunshine Coast: Meet Alana

Hello, I’m Alana.

I’m a qualified counsellor based on the Sunshine Coast, here to support you through whatever season you find yourself in.

For over a decade, I’ve been immersed in the world of health, wellness, and healing — holding space for others through yoga, Ayurveda, retreat work, and now, in the deeply human work of counselling.

My approach is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and the belief that true healing begins within — and grows in the presence of safe, supportive connection. I believe each person holds innate wisdom, even if it feels hidden or out of reach. My role is to walk beside you as you reconnect with that knowing — to offer a space where all parts of you are welcome.

Lana is a tertiary trained communicator and counsellor. She is also highly intuitive, deeply empathic and able to draw from a diverse range of life experiences. I’m very comfortable recommending her to any potential client.

My Path

This journey began in unexpected places—teaching English in Thailand, studying yoga in Indonesia, and working in wellness retreats across Sri Lanka and Hawaii. Over time, I felt called to deeper listening and more sustained therapeutic work — to sit with others not just in moments of stillness, but in the tender and often complex process of becoming.

What began as an interest in holistic health deepened into a calling: to walk alongside others not only through moments of ease, but also through the vulnerable terrain of healing. To be a companion in the quiet work of remembering — not who we should be, but who we already are beneath the noise.

I hold a Bachelor of Counselling from the University of the Sunshine Coast, alongside immersive studies in Ayurveda, yoga, and trauma-informed care. I’m also a Level 2 member of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA).

The Way I Work

My style is slow, grounded, and collaborative. I offer a space where you can take off the armour, speak freely, and be met with presence and care.

Our work might include exploring inner parts of self through IFS, reframing patterns through narrative therapy, or simply sitting with what’s here—gently, without rush.

I often integrate breath, body awareness, and elements of yoga and Ayurvedic wisdom when it feels supportive. These practices offer simple ways to return home to yourself admist the weight of grief or the fog of anxiety.

Spiritual counselling also informs my work for those who feel drawn to it—supporting deeper connection to meaning, inner guidance, and peace.

Outside the Therapy Room

Outside of sessions, you’ll find me near the sea, walking the beach, practicing yoga and Pilates, cooking slow meals, or curled up with my cat.
These simple rituals ground me—and help me show up for my work with presence, humility, and openheartedness.
