How We Work Together
How I Work
My approach is trauma-informed, relational, and gentle, drawing on evidence-based practices including, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Narrative Therapy, somatic awareness.
Nervous System & Relational Safety
Real change and healing happen in the present. Before diving into past stories, we focus on helping your body learn how to settle, self-regulate, and feel safe in the present moment. We do this not just by talking about safety, but by giving your nervous system real, somatic experiences of it today.
Honouring Your Protective Adaptations
Anxiety, shutting down, overthinking, or people-pleasing are not personal flaws—they are intelligent responses your system created to keep you safe. Together, we meet these protective parts with curiosity and compassion rather than criticism.
Emotionally Focused & Parts-Informed Exploration
By creating relational safety, we can gently explore the underlying emotions and attachment needs that drive repetitive patterns. We look at the different parts of you carrying overwhelm, while separating who you truly are from the problems you experience.
Building Readiness & Lasting Change
Combining somatic awareness with evidence-based frameworks, we work to untangle long-held stress, deepen self-compassion, and strengthen communication. This helps you build practical readiness for life transitions, restore trust in your own decision-making, and cultivate steady, lasting change—both within yourself and in your relationships…

My approach to trauma counselling is solution-focused, centering on nervous system regulation, self-compassion, and relational safety.
I believe healing happens in the present. What is necessary for change and healing is learning to self-regulate and feel safe, which we do by showing our system that we are here and safe now.
By starting with the present, we naturally begin to notice stories, patterns, and conditioning. Building from relational safety and our therapeutic connection, we only return to the past when necessary to understand how it affects the present moment. This is natural and without force. Diving back into old stories isn't always essential; so much meaningful change happens simply by regulating our systems today.
Nervous System First
We start in the present moment. Before diving into past stories, we focus on helping your body learn how to settle, self-regulate, and feel safe (a bottom-up approach).
We begin with body mapping—noticing how we physically feel in response to emotions, environments, and memories. Through this somatic awareness, we can access old emotions more easily because the body remembers what has previously been present within us.
A top-down approach is the opposite: starting with talk therapy alone. In my approach, I don't believe talking by itself brings lasting change. We heal by showing the body new experiences of safety—not just telling it. We do this through gentleness, understanding, and grounding in the present moment first.
Honouring Your Adaptations
Anxiety, shutting down, people-pleasing, or overthinking aren't personal flaws—they are smart protections your system built to keep you safe. We work alongside these responses with curiosity, not criticism.
Mind & Body Integration
Combining evidence-based talk therapies (like Narrative Therapy and Parts Work) with somatic awareness and movement, we help untangle long-held stress, identify your needs and work together to build support, new stories, and help you heal long held patterns to create what you desire, so you can feel truly present and free in your life.
